INEC Resumes Final Phase of Voter Registration on May 11

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced the resumption of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise, marking its third and final phase, which will commence on Monday, May 11, 2026, and conclude on Friday, July 10, 2026. This decision follows the suspension of the second phase on April 17, 2026, to allow the commission to clean the voter register in response to public claims of objections to registrations.

INEC Chairman Moham Haruna informed the voter education committee that during this period, eligible citizens who turn 18 and those who were unable to register in earlier phases can take the opportunity to register. Additionally, voters wishing to transfer their registration, replace lost or damaged Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), or correct their biodata are encouraged to do so.

The commission has provided an online portal for registration and will display the list of registered voters for scrutiny from July 23 to July 29, 2026, ensuring the accuracy and credibility of the voter register.
