ADC Accuses INEC of Blocking Candidates for 2027 Elections

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has raised concerns that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is blocking its candidates from contesting in the 2027 elections. In a statement from Mallam Abdullahi, the party alleges that INEC has ceased to receive correspondence from them pending the resolution of a case in the Federal High Court.

This situation, according to ADC, risks undermining their ability to participate in the electoral process. The party cites documentary evidence, including INEC's own records and a sworn affidavit, to support its claims.

They assert that INEC's refusal to accept communications prevents them from complying with the Electoral Act, which mandates political parties to submit documents within a specified timeframe. The ADC warns that unless the court delivers a judgment by May 10, they will be unable to produce candidates, creating an artificial barrier to their participation in the elections.

The party urges INEC to reverse its decision and uphold its constitutional responsibilities.
