INEC Clears Only Two Political Groups for Final Registration Stage

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Nigeria has advanced only two political groups, African Alliance Party (AAP) and Democrat Leadership Alliance (DLA), to the final stage of party registration. INEC received 171 applications for political party status, with 14 associations granted provisional approval.

However, six groups, including African Transform Party and Advanced Nigeria Congress, were disqualified for failing to meet statutory requirements, particularly related to their registered addresses. The disqualification has sparked confusion and claims of address change notifications being denied by INEC.
