INEC Recognizes David Mark-led ADC After Supreme Court Ruling

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has made a significant update by recognizing the leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) led by David Mark. This decision follows a Supreme Court ruling that set aside a previous Court of Appeal decision which directed the party's leadership dispute to maintain the status quo ante bellum.

The apex court ordered that the ADC return to the Federal High Court to hear the substantive suit. Justice Moham Lawal Garba presided over the case, which arose from a suit filed by aggrieved member Nafiu Bala Gomb, challenging the emergence of Mark as the national chairman and seeking to restrain the faction from acting as the party's leadership.

The crisis within the party escalated after the Court of Appeal ruled that INEC should remove the Mark-led executive from its portal, not recognizing the faction pending the resolution of the dispute. The latest update from INEC indicates a shift in the commission's position while the case remains active in court.
