INEC to Resume Nationwide Voter Registration May 2026

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced the resumption of nationwide voter registration, set to commence on May 11, 2026, and conclude on July 10, 2026. This will be the third and final phase of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise.

The second phase was suspended on April 17, 2026, to allow the commission to clean the voter register. INEC Chairman Moham Haruna informed the public that this upcoming phase will provide an opportunity for eligible Nigerians who have attained the age of 18 and were unable to register during earlier phases.

Voters are advised to seek changes or replacements for their voter details through available channels, including the INEC online portal. Additionally, INEC will display registered voter claims and objections from July 23 to July 29, 2026, as part of its statutory exercise to ensure the accuracy and credibility of the voter register.
