INEC Postpones Voter Revalidation Until 2027 Elections

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced the postponement of the nationwide voter revalidation exercise, which was initially proposed to enhance the credibility of the voter registration process. This decision was made following a meeting of the Resident Electoral Commissioners on Friday, April 10.

The exercise has now been rescheduled to take place in conjunction with the 2027 general elections. The statement regarding this postponement was signed by Mohan Kudu Haruna, who is the chairman of INEC's Information and Voter Education Committee.

The voter revalidation exercise is a critical component of INEC's mandate to maintain the credibility of the national voter register, ensuring the accuracy of personal data, eliminating duplicates and ineligible entries, and strengthening the overall integrity of the voter registration process. INEC remains committed to conducting free, fair, credible, and inclusive elections.
