INEC records 69,376 registrants hours after Obi urges Nigerians to get PVC

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) saw a surge in registrations, with 69,376 new registrants within hours of former presidential candidate Peter Obi urging Nigerians to get their Permanent Voter Cards (PVC). The INEC Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) portal went live at 2 pm, with a significant number of male and female registrants, particularly young people aged 18 and above.

The online portal is accessible 24 hours a day. Registration will officially commence on Monday, August 25, 2025, across 811 state and local government offices nationwide, from Mondays to Fridays.

INEC emphasized that voter registration is open to all Nigerian citizens who are at least 18 years old and have not committed multiple registrations. The Commission will provide weekly updates on the CVR process, including detailed breakdowns by state, gender, age, occupation, and disability.
