INEC uploads over 80% of Osun governorship election results on IReV
The electoral commission has posted results from more than 3,000 polling units as vote tallying continues in the Osun State gubernatorial race.
The Independent National Electoral Commission has made substantial progress in publishing results from Saturday's Osun State governorship election on its digital Result Viewing Portal. As of the latest update, the commission had processed and uploaded more than 80 percent of the state's election data, covering 3,019 of the 3,763 polling units across the 30 local government areas.
Three major candidates competed in the election to select Osun's next governor for a four-year tenure. The race included incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke representing the Accord Party, Bola Oyebamiji running as the All Progressives Congress nominee, and Najeem Salaam as the African Democratic Congress standard-bearer.
The electronic results portal represents INEC's effort to provide real-time transparency during the tallying process. Earlier updates showed the commission had uploaded approximately 17 percent of results in an initial phase, followed by a 63.51 percent milestone, before reaching the 80 percent threshold.
The Osun election tested Nigeria's electoral infrastructure and procedures as the nation continues implementing digital result management systems. Voters across the state participated in the Saturday poll, which proceeded across all 30 local government areas.
The remaining 20 percent of results were still pending upload to the portal.
