INEC Faces Criticism Over Delayed Election Result Uploads

During the Osun State governorship elections, significant concerns were raised regarding a delay in the upload of results to the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) Results Viewing Portal (IReV). The portal showed no updates for over two hours, with the last result published at 8:48:08 p.m.

As of 11:20 p.m. on Saturday, 3,292 out of 3,763 results had been uploaded, accounting for 87.48 percent of the total. This situation prompted reactions on social media, including from Afrobeats star David Adeleke, known as Davido, who questioned the interruption in the upload process.

He highlighted the issue in a post on X, stating, “INEC IREV uploads have been stuck for almost 2 hours now. This is not acceptable.” Residents across Osun State's 30 local government areas participated in the elections to select a governor for the next four years, with candidates including incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party, Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and Najeem Salaam of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
