Gianni Infantino Proposes Increased FIFA Funding for Members

FIFA President Gianni Infantino has proposed significant increases in funding for FIFA's 211 member associations, with the FIFA Council scheduled to discuss this at its meeting on October 15. In a letter to the presidents of FIFA's six continental confederations, Infantino expressed his support for "the greatest level of additional funding that can responsibly be delivered," although he noted that no specific figures are currently approved.

This comes after European football chief Aleksander Ceferin and North and Central American and Caribbean football chief Victor Montagliani suggested that each member association should receive $10 million from 2027 to 2030. Infantino indicated he would match any such offers.

He also addressed the recent withdrawal of a proposal to sell a portion of World Cup commercial rights, which had faced backlash and calls for his resignation, stating it was intended to generate more funds for football. Infantino is set to run for re-election in March, with support from Saudi Arabia, CAF, and CONMEBOL.
