Woman Arrested for Stabbing Immigration Officer in Abia

On February 16, 2026, a woman named Chidieber Jame was arrested by the Abia State Police Command for allegedly stabbing her husband, an immigration officer, to death in Umuahia, Abia State. The incident reportedly stemmed from a domestic dispute that began on Sunday, involving accusations of infidelity and financial difficulties related to their sick child's medical treatment.

Tensions escalated early Monday morning, leading to a confrontation between the couple inside their home. Following a heated argument, during which the husband’s phone was damaged, Chidieber allegedly picked up a pair of scissors and stabbed her husband, who collapsed shortly after the incident.

He was later confirmed dead at the Federal Medical Centre Umuahia. The traditional ruler of the Ekeoba ancient kingdom, HRH Iheanyi Nwokenna, expressed shock over the incident, highlighting the growing concern regarding domestic violence in the community.
