Man Arrested for Allegedly Killing Girlfriend in Abia

Edward Okori Isiugwu has been arrested by the Abia State Police Command for the alleged murder of his girlfriend, Sophie Chika Dure, a young nurse. The incident occurred on Monday in Ohafia, Abia State, following a domestic dispute that escalated into violence.

Reports indicate that the couple had been cohabiting in Okagwu village for three years prior to the tragic event. Community sources revealed that an argument between the two turned violent, resulting in Dure's death, as she was allegedly beaten to death by Isiugwu.

The police were informed of the incident, and the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Ohafia, Maureen Chinaka, confirmed that the matter has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Umuahia for a thorough investigation. The community is mourning the loss and is calling for a comprehensive probe into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
