Jack Draper Withdraws from Washington ATP Event Due to Injury

Jack Draper, the former British number one, has withdrawn from the ATP Tour event in Washington due to ongoing discomfort from a long-term arm injury. The 24-year-old left-hander had been set to make his return after missing Wimbledon last month.

Draper has been suffering from bone bruising in his serving arm for over a year. Although he felt "physically good" before the Mubadala DC Open and showed promise in practice sessions under new coach Andy Murray, he experienced increased soreness in his arm, prompting his withdrawal.

Draper expressed his frustration on Instagram, describing the past months as filled with adversity and setbacks. He remains hopeful of participating in the Montreal and Cincinnati tournaments before the US Open begins on August 30.

Currently ranked 147th in the world, Draper has only played 14 matches in the past year due to his injury issues. He will be replaced in the Washington draw by lucky loser Mackenzie McDonald.
