Inner Wheel District 911 Empowers Widows in Lagos

On March 8, 2026, Inner Wheel District 911 organized an empowerment program for five indigent widows in Lagos, marking International Women's Day. The event took place at the Rotary Centre, Ikeja, where beneficiaries received financial and material support to improve their livelihoods.

Notable attendees included Alhaja Sinatu Ojikutu, who represented Dr. Maria Gome, and guest speaker Olufunk Fowler Amba, who urged women to support and empower each other.

Ojikutu reflected on the historical discrimination faced by women and encouraged them to step forward and break barriers. The event featured a panel discussion with Mari Obadina, Temitop Kayod Ojo, and Oyenik Adeosun, focusing on leadership and mentorship among women.

District Chairman Omolola Fakey reiterated the organization's commitment to projects promoting women's empowerment and community development, emphasizing that International Women's Day should be a call to action against gender-based violence and for the advancement of women's rights.
