Seven Pakistanis Arrested in Benue for Terrorism Suspicions

On July 1, 2023, the Benue State Police Command arrested seven Pakistani nationals in Otukpo after receiving intelligence about suspicious foreign lodgers in a local hotel. The individuals could not provide credible contact information and were suspected of engaging in criminal activities.

Following this, on July 2, 2023, a police operation in Guma Local Government Area led to the neutralization of four armed bandits, with the recovery of an AK-47 rifle, six rounds of live ammunition, and four pistols concealed in an oil gallon. The police also dismissed reports of bandit roadblocks in the area.

In a separate incident, on July 19, 2023, troops from Operation Hadin Kai, in collaboration with the Nigerian Police, successfully thwarted an attempted mass abduction of students at the Federal Government Girls College in Monguno, Borno State, rescuing 46 students and ensuring no abductions occurred.
