Police Arrest Five Pakistanis with 35 Phones in Benue

The Benue State Police Command arrested five Pakistani nationals and recovered 35 mobile phones during operations in Otukpo and Ugbokolo. The arrests occurred after credible intelligence regarding the suspects' activities.

On August 4, three suspects—Younas Mohammad (36), Ahmad Nunil (38), and Aslam Muhammad (46)—were apprehended at Adoka Motor Park while attempting to board a vehicle to Adoka village. They claimed to be in the area for marketing cosmetics and mobile gadgets, but no such items were found, raising suspicions.

The following day, two additional suspects, Juma Sharif (30) and Muhammed Sharif (25), were arrested at a local hotel in Ugbokolo, stating they were dealers in Android phones. Further investigation led to the recovery of 23 Tecno Camon 50 Pro phones and one Infinix Hot 60 phone, totaling 35 mobile phones.

The suspects were transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Makurdi for further investigation regarding their presence and activities in the state, with concerns that their possession of mobile phones could be a cover for clandestine activities.
