Expert Calls for Special Force to Tackle Terrorism in Nigeria

Col. Ahmad Usman, a retired military officer and special adviser on security matters to the Sokoto State Governor, has called on the Federal Government to recalibrate its security strategy in response to the evolving threats posed by terrorists.

In a press statement made available to newsmen, he emphasized the need for the establishment and deployment of a special force trained specifically in unconventional guerrilla warfare tactics. This unit would be smaller, highly mobile, and equipped with advanced skills tailored to counter the methods used by adversaries.

Col. Usman criticized the current reliance on conventional military tactics, stating that they are ineffective against highly unconventional enemies who utilize guerrilla warfare tactics and local intelligence.

He urged the government to reconsider its approach urgently, highlighting the importance of training personnel in advanced tactics to achieve better results in combating terrorism and ensuring national safety.
