Zamfara TB Network Calls for Action on Health Services

Insecurity continues to hinder the delivery of Tuberculosis, HIV/AIDS, and Malaria services in Zamfara State, according to the Zamfara State TB Network. During a Media Round Table meeting in Gusau, State Project Officer Yahaya Muhammad emphasized the need for government and stakeholder intervention to tackle security issues that disrupt service delivery.
Many patients have fled their communities due to terrorist activities, making it difficult for them to access healthcare. The meeting addressed the persistent stock-outs of essential commodities and the stigmatization faced by patients, particularly in Bela district, where some have stopped seeking treatment.
Recommendations included engaging the media for public awareness campaigns and facilitating an advocacy meeting with Governor Dauda Lawal to present findings from Community-Led Monitoring activities. The Director of Administration of the Hospital Management Board assured support for these initiatives.
The TB Network has procured drugs to mitigate TB stock-outs but stressed the urgent need for comprehensive solutions to improve ATM service delivery.
