Igboho Defends Ultimatum Amid Warnings of Anarchy

Sundai Igboho, a prominent Yoruba nation agitator, defended his recent actions in response to rising insecurity in Nigeria, specifically addressing the abduction of a pregnant woman in Oyo State. He issued a two-hour ultimatum to Fulani leaders in the Ogun area, demanding the release of the abducted victim.

This move has drawn criticism from the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) and the Northern Elders Forum (NEF), who warned that Igboho's actions could exacerbate ethnic tensions and lead to anarchy. Prof. Tukur Muhammad Baba of the ACF described the ultimatum as unconstitutional and potentially harmful, arguing that it unfairly implicates the entire Fulani ethnic group for the actions of a few individuals.

He emphasized that criminal enterprises, including kidnapping, involve people from diverse backgrounds and should not be attributed to any single ethnic group. The ACF and NEF called for immediate action from security agencies and community leaders to prevent escalation and maintain national unity.
