Wike Bans Keke Napep and Okada in Abuja City Center

On Tuesday, Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), declared that tricycles, known as Keke Napep, and motorcycles, referred to as Okada, will not be permitted to operate within the Abuja city center. During his monthly media chat, Wike stated that these vehicles have posed a security threat to the residents of the capital.

He mentioned that he had signed an approval following a security council meeting, which concluded that Keke Napep and Okada not only cause a nuisance but also represent a significant security concern. Wike instructed security personnel to identify specific areas in Abuja where these vehicles should be banned, although he acknowledged the challenge of enforcing a complete ban across the entire city.

Additionally, he noted that destitute individuals would also not be allowed to roam the capital, emphasizing that his administration cannot provide shelter for them.
