Wike Promises Action Against Illegal Racing in Abuja

Nyesom Wike, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, expressed his outrage regarding illegal road racing on public roads in Abuja, emphasizing the dangers it poses to public safety. During an inspection tour of ongoing projects in the FCT, he stated that high-speed racing in residential neighborhoods endangers innocent citizens and violates traffic regulations.

Wike urged those involved in such activities to respect the law and highlighted that designated areas exist for car racing. He committed to coordinating with traffic enforcement authorities to eliminate unauthorized racing in residential areas.

Additionally, Wike announced that the FCT Administration is on track to complete and hand over eight to ten ongoing infrastructure projects across the capital city before January of the following year. He specifically mentioned the Apo-Karshi road project, which is nearing completion, and the rapid progress of the Bwari-Kubwa road construction, with contractors expected to deliver quality work before the next rainy season.
