Tension in Kogi State as Government Shuts Schools Amid Security Raid Rumors

In Kogi State, the government has shut down all public and private primary and secondary schools following rumors of a security raid. The closure, affecting schools across the state, is believed to be a preventive measure against potential attacks by bandits, especially on soft targets like schools.

The decision was made to avert possible reprisal attacks. Pastor Reuben Jimoh, the Kogi State Chairman of the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools, informed school owners about the emergency lockdown during the ongoing midterm break.

Solomon Musa, the Public Relations Officer of the Kogi State Ministry of Education, confirmed the closure of schools but did not disclose the specific reason behind the sudden shutdown. As of the report filing, the state government had not issued an official statement explaining the emergency lockdown.
