Kogi State Shuts Schools for Two Weeks Amid Security Concerns

The Kogi State Government, through the state commissioner Mr. Kingsley Femi Fanwo, announced the closure of schools for two weeks as a proactive security measure.

This decision was based on credible intelligence to protect pupils, students, and teachers. Governor Ahm Usman Odojo directed relevant agencies to deploy necessary measures to ensure the safety of schools before resuming academic activities.

The National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS) chairman, Pastor Reuben Jimoh, instructed members to comply with the directive, ensuring the safety of children and staff. Schools are expected to resume academic activities on February 16, 2026, after the mid-term break.

The state government emphasized the importance of prioritizing lives and ensuring continuous education while intensifying efforts against criminal elements in the region.
