RTEAN Kwara Urges Motorists to Avoid Night Travel

The Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) in Kwara has issued a warning to motorists to refrain from traveling at night due to the heightened risk of insecurity in the region. Abdulrahman Onikijipa, the state chairman of the association, provided this advice during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Saturday in Ilorin.

He highlighted the dangers associated with night journeys, particularly on isolated highways, and urged drivers to remain vigilant. Onikijipa mentioned that the association is intensifying its sensitization efforts to educate drivers on safety measures.

Regular meetings with drivers are being held to address the serious issue of kidnapping and to emphasize the need for drivers to be aware of their surroundings. He also advised motorists to confirm road conditions and obtain security updates before embarking on journeys, and recommended that they keep their mobile phones fully charged and have emergency contact numbers ready to avoid unnecessary stops or picking up unknown passengers along isolated roads.
