Ondo Residents Protest Against Abductions and Killings

On Saturday, residents of Imafon, Igushin, and Ilado in the Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State protested against the incessant abductions and killings in their communities. The protest involved barricading the Shoprite junction, a few meters from the governor's office. This demonstration was prompted by a brutal attack where gunmen killed a poultry farmer's daughter and two others. The youth leader, identified as Kunle, expressed frustration over the unchecked operations of gunmen in the state, particularly around Akure. He highlighted the community's mourning over recent violent incidents, including the killing of a mother and daughter just two days prior. The residents are demanding that the government fulfill its duty to protect them, criticizing the lack of security presence and patrols in the area. They vowed to continue their protests until concrete actions are taken to ensure their safety and security.
