Terrorists Attack Kebbi Mosque, Killing Five Worshippers

On Wednesday evening, terrorists attacked a mosque in the Maiyama Local Government Area of Kebbi State, resulting in the deaths of five worshippers and injuries to three others. The attack occurred during prayer time when the assailants opened fire on the congregation.

SP Bashir Usman, a spokesperson for the Kebbi State Police Command, confirmed the incident. The assault was reportedly a retaliation by suspected Lakurawa terrorist elements following a failed ambush on a Nigerian Army convoy.

This ambush took place on February 24, when Major General Bemgha Koughna, the General Officer Commanding the 8 Division, was visiting frontline troops. The Nigerian Army troops responded with superior firepower, killing five attackers and foiling the ambush.

The injured worshippers were evacuated to a nearby medical facility for treatment.
