Senator Ndume Commends Repatriation of Nigerians Displaced to Cameroon Amid Insurgency

Senator Ali Ndume praised President Bola Tinubu and Borno State Governor Prof. Babagana Zulum for successfully repatriating thousands of Nigerians who were displaced to Cameroon due to the Boko Haram insurgency. The ongoing repatriation process involves close collaboration between the Nigerian government, the UNHCR, and the Cameroonian authorities.

The repatriation and resettlement efforts are focused on restoring hope to communities that have been severely affected by the conflict in the North-East region. Senator Ndume specifically commended the sustainable resettlement programs initiated by the federal and state governments, highlighting the return of displaced persons to their ancestral homes in Gwoza Local Government.

The repatriation process also includes restoring essential services like electricity to areas that have been in darkness for a decade due to the destruction of power infrastructure by insurgents. The agreement for the repatriation was signed in Yaoundé, Cameroon, with the involvement of high-level Nigerian officials, including Borno State Governor Kashim Shettima and former Minister of Interior Lt. Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazau (retd).
