INEC Chairman Stresses Election Integrity for Security

On Monday, in Abuja, Prof. Joash Amupitan, the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), stated that the integrity of elections is crucial for national security.

He made this declaration during a courtesy visit from the Alumni Association of the Institute for Security Studies (AANI). Amupitan highlighted that credible elections are the foundation of democracy and directly influence national security.

He called for collaboration among security agencies and policymakers to maintain transparency and fairness throughout the electoral cycle. The visit underscored the essential connection between effective security management and the integrity of the electoral process.

Amupitan noted the significance of the upcoming 2nd annual lecture on credible elections and national security in Nigeria, stressing the need for a harmonious approach to uphold democratic values. He commended AANI for its commitment to building the capacity of security professionals to strengthen the nation’s resilience against threats that could undermine democratic development.
