Buni Urges Imams to Intensify Prayers for Nigeria's Peace

Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni called on 800 Juma mosque imams to intensify prayers for Nigeria's peace and prosperity during a speech in Damaturu. He emphasized the importance of promoting peace and coexistence among followers.

Buni announced a welfare package for religious leaders, which includes a cash donation of N200,000 for selected imams and N100,000 for tsangaya leaders across the state's 14 emir councils. Additionally, he mentioned that on April 14, 2026, he met with the chief imam of 17 local government areas to provide further support.

The welfare interventions also include N50,000 cash for 200 orphans in two batches, rice donations, and support for widows and persons with disabilities. Buni's special adviser, Ustaz Babagana Mallam Kyari, highlighted the need for citizens to engage in prayers for the state's development and harmony, particularly during significant religious observances.
