IPAC to Challenge Amotekun's Role in Ekiti Elections

The Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) in Ekiti State, led by Chairman Phillip Adeniji, announced plans to legally challenge the deployment of state security outfits, including Amotekun, for election duties on June 20. IPAC aims to obtain a court injunction to prevent these unconventional security forces from participating in the upcoming elections, citing concerns over potential harassment and coercion of voters.

Adeniji stated that the council has already sent a written notice of intent to challenge the state government's proposal to use its security agencies during the 2026 Ekiti State governorship election. The council emphasizes the importance of a transparent voting process, urging that voters should not be intimidated and should be allowed to vote according to their conscience.
