IPOB Cancels Monday Sit-at-Home Order in South-East Nigeria

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has announced the permanent cancellation of the Monday sit-at-home order across South-East Nigeria. This decision, directed by IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu, is effective immediately from Monday, February 9, 2026.

The move is intended to ensure the return to normal life in the region, allowing children to go back to school and businesses to operate without fear or intimidation. IPOB emphasized that there is no need for excuses to stay at home on Mondays, urging residents to resume their normal activities.

The group warned against any attempts to enforce the sit-at-home order, stating that such actions would be met with resistance. Additionally, IPOB cautioned state governors against threatening traders who choose not to participate in the sit-at-home, vowing to resist any forced closures of markets.

The cancellation of the sit-at-home order comes after a viral video surfaced, announcing the end of the practice due to the "stupidity" of Governor Chukwuma Soludo.
