IPOB Applauds U.S. Congressman for Kanu's Case Intervention

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) welcomed the intervention of U.S. Congressman John James regarding the case of its leader, Nnamdi Kanu, describing it as a “historic moment” in their campaign for his release.

In a statement from spokesman Emma Powerful, IPOB commended James, a Republican from Michigan, for raising concerns about Kanu's trial and the security situation in Nigeria during a session of the U.S. House of Representatives.

James characterized Nigeria as perilous for Christians and criticized the lack of accountability for Boko Haram and armed bandits. He questioned Kanu's prosecution, advocating for a trial that adheres to Nigeria's constitutional provisions, including access to legal representation and humane detention conditions, or Kanu's unconditional release.

IPOB claimed this intervention marked a significant milestone in their international advocacy, asserting that Kanu has become a global symbol of injustice. They reiterated their demand for his immediate release and expressed confidence in growing international support for their cause.
