IPOB Demands Hearing for Nnamdi Kanu's Appeal in 14 Days

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has questioned the legal basis for the continued detention of its leader, Nnamdi Kanu, demanding that the Federal Government of Nigeria list and hear his pending appeal within 14 days or face a boycott of the 2027 general election across the South-East and other parts of Biafraland. IPOB's spokesman, Emma Powerful, stated that Kanu has written to the Chief Justice of Nigeria and the President of the Court of Appeal regarding the delay in his appeal hearing.

The group criticized the Federal Government for not filing a respondent's brief or appearing in court to defend Kanu's conviction, which they claim was hastily executed. IPOB also challenged the Supreme Court's decision that overturned Kanu's previous discharge and acquittal, alleging that the court exceeded its powers.

The group views the delay in Kanu's appeal as a significant issue and suggests that a boycott could serve as a political statement against a system perceived to have failed in delivering justice.
