Kalu Honors Tinubu's Peacebuilding Role at IPU Assembly

During the 152nd General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) held in Istanbul, Turkey, Nigeria's Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Benjamin Kalu, PhD, CFR, recognized President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's leadership in advancing peacebuilding efforts.

This acknowledgment followed the adoption of a landmark resolution titled "Role of Parliament in Establishing Robust Post-Conflict Management Mechanisms." The resolution reflects a growing global consensus on the critical role of legislative institutions in stabilizing post-conflict societies and preventing a relapse into violence. Kalu emphasized Tinubu's commitment to fostering unity, strengthening democratic institutions, and promoting inclusive dialogue as essential pillars for sustainable peace.

The resolution, which was unanimously approved, contains 36 proposals and underscores that lasting peace cannot be separated from justice and accountability. Kalu also highlighted Tinubu's reconciliation efforts in the South East, including the upcoming launch of the Peace in South East (PISE) project in December 2024.
