Explosion Outside Liège Synagogue Sparks Condemnation

On Monday morning, an explosion rocked a synagogue in Liège, Belgium, occurring shortly after 4 AM. The blast resulted in damage to windows of the building located opposite the place of worship, but fortunately, no injuries were reported.

The police cordoned off the area to establish a security perimeter as investigations into the incident continued. Mayor of Liège, Willi Demey, strongly condemned the attack, describing it as a serious act of anti-Semitism that contradicts the city's tradition of tolerance.

He cautioned against the importation of international conflicts into the city. Yves Oschinski, president of the Jewish Organization of Belgium, expressed deep concern over the explosion, labeling it as a deeply troubling event that represents an extreme disturbance and serious worry regarding anti-Semitic acts.

The cause of the explosion is still under investigation by security agencies.
