Iran-linked Hackers Breach FBI Director Kash Patel's Email

The Handala Hack Team, an Iran-linked group, claimed responsibility for hacking the personal email account of U.S. FBI Director Kash Patel.

They published sensitive materials online, including personal photographs and email correspondence, some dating back to 2010. The FBI confirmed that malicious actors targeted Patel's email and stated they are taking necessary steps to mitigate potential risks associated with the leaked information.

The U.S. Department of State has offered a reward of $10 million for information leading to the identification of members of the Handala Hack Team, which has previously targeted U.S. government officials.

The breach comes amid heightened tensions between the U.S. and Iran, with the FBI warning of potential cyberattacks from Iranian actors. The released materials included older email correspondence and personal images, raising concerns about the security of sensitive information.
