Iran Strikes US Bases in Kuwait and UAE, Oil Prices Surge

On Thursday, Iran's army announced it struck the Ahmad al-Jaber Air Base in Kuwait and Al Minhad Air Base in the United Arab Emirates using missiles and drones. Kuwait confirmed it intercepted the attack, labeling it a "grave breach of the rules of international law," while the UAE stated it had no record of any strike on its territory.

The Iranian strikes were reportedly in retaliation for a missile attack on a site in Kuhestak that killed at least four people, including a child, and injured over 50 others. US Vice President JD Vance indicated that the US military was investigating the incident but expressed skepticism regarding Iran's account, emphasizing that the US military does not target civilians.

The situation has led to comparisons with earlier conflicts, and Iranian Revolutionary Guards chief Ahmad Vahidi vowed that the deaths would not go unanswered. The ongoing conflict began on February 28 with US-Israeli strikes that killed former Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, leading to a breakdown of a ceasefire in July.
