Ireland and Nigeria to Celebrate Bloomsday in Lagos

The Embassy of Ireland in Nigeria, represented by Ambassador Peter Ryan, announced a special celebration of Bloomsday to be held in Lagos on Saturday, June 27. This event will honor James Joyce's legendary novel "Ulysses" and aims to celebrate the deep cultural and literary connections between Ireland and Nigeria.

Bloomsday is observed globally every June, commemorating Joyce's masterpiece and its impact on literature. The celebration will also recognize the contributions of notable Irish literary figures such as W.B.

Yeats, J.M. Synge, and Seamus Heaney, who have long resonated with Nigerian authors.

One such author is Chinua Achebe, renowned for his seminal novel "Things Fall Apart," which reflects the influence of Irish literature in Nigeria. This event underscores the ongoing cultural exchange and appreciation between the two nations.
