iREP Launches Mobile Phone Filmmaking Workshop in 2026

iREP has unveiled details for a mobile phone filmmaking workshop set to take place from March 16 to 18, 2026, in partnership with Ecobank. This initiative is part of the festival's pre-event capacity-building efforts, aimed at young creatives aged 18 to 25.

The workshop will provide intensive training in documentary filmmaking techniques, including story development, research, visual composition, interview techniques, ethics, and post-production workflow. Acclaimed filmmaker Tunde Kelani will lead the workshop, with facilitators including Emmy-winning documentary filmmaker Joel Benson and others.

Participants will have the opportunity to engage with prominent figures in Nigeria's film industry during special meet-and-greet sessions. The workshop will also feature a competition with cash prizes: the best film will receive ₦1 million, while second and third place will receive ₦750,000 and ₦500,000, respectively.

Aspiring filmmakers must submit a 200-300 word statement and a two-minute video pitch to apply, and they are required to have an Ecobank account to participate.
