Isaiah Benjamin Re-elected SWAN President for Second Term
Isaiah Kemje Benjamin (JP) has been re-elected as the National President of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) for another three-year term following the 2026 Triennial National Delegates Congress held in Kaduna on August 28. Benjamin emerged unopposed in the election, while Ikenna Okonkwo was re-elected as Secretary General.
The congress saw delegates from all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory review the association's affairs and elect a new National Executive Council. The most competitive position was for Deputy President, where Nyong Bonny Silas defeated Chigozie Chukwuleta by 21 votes to 14.
At the zonal level, Samuel Gangwaja won the North-East Vice President position against incumbent Ahmed Kagana Amshi. The newly elected officers, including Nyong Bonny Silas as Deputy President and Samuel Ahmadu as Deputy Secretary-General, were sworn in by Sir Ben Churchill Aniekwena, marking the beginning of Benjamin's second term aimed at enhancing members' welfare and professional development.
