SWAN President Benjamin Isaiah Advocates for Unity and Respect

Benjamin Isaiah, currently serving as the President of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), articulated his vision for the association during an interview on a WhatsApp platform hosted by Sundai Agunbiade. Isaiah emphasized the importance of rebuilding the association's respect and professionalism, addressing criticisms and challenges that affect sports journalists across Nigeria.

He highlighted his administration's focus on creating an inclusive leadership structure to restore unity within SWAN, which has faced internal disagreements among state chapters. Isaiah acknowledged the progress made but noted that there is a long journey ahead.

He stressed the necessity for sports journalists to respect themselves and each other to gain recognition from external bodies. Additionally, he pointed out that poor remuneration remains a significant issue, requiring urgent attention, as many journalists struggle without adequate financial support from media organizations.

Isaiah's administration aims to command respect both nationally and internationally, ensuring that the welfare of sports journalists is prioritized.
