Islamic Board Allocates N26.47bn for 2026 Budget

The Islamic board, an examination body responsible for standardizing and certifying Arabic and Islamic education in Nigeria, has been allocated N26,472,086,954 in its 2026 budget. Of this amount, 68% will be spent on staff, with N15,414,097,516 for salaries and N2,635,755,653 for allowances and social contributions.

Specific allocations include N770,151,190 for the National Health Insurance Scheme and N1,540,302,379 for staff pension contributions. The remaining 32% of the budget will cover overhead costs and capital expenditures, including over N2.5 billion for projects such as road construction, solar streetlights, and social media training in Kano, Katsina, Kogi, and Zamfara States.

Notable allocations include N210 million for a road in Kano and N70 million for a road in Kogi. The budget also earmarks funds for food distribution and empowerment initiatives in various constituencies.

Efforts to obtain comments from the commission were unsuccessful, although the Head of Information, Abdul Salam Ramalan, indicated he would respond after consulting with his principal.
