Delta State Ethnic Groups to Protest Alleged Marginalization by Government

Isoko, Ijaw, and Itsekiri ethnic groups in Delta State, represented by the Isoko Ijaw Itsekiri Elder Leader Forum 3I, are set to protest perceived marginalization by the government. The group, led by Anthony Metses, is demanding improved infrastructure development and fair treatment.

They seek to engage Governor Sheriff Oborevwori on issues such as inadequate funding for the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC) and the lopsided execution of major infrastructure projects. The leaders are dissatisfied with what they perceive as a lack of impact on their communities, especially in riverine oil-producing areas.

They criticize the governor for seemingly neglecting their interests since assuming office. The group also expresses displeasure over the lack of representation and impact from Senator Joel Onowakpo Thomas, who represents the Delta South Senatorial District in the National Assembly.
