ISPON to Launch National Software Industry Registry Soon

The Institute of Software Practitioners of Nigeria (ISPON) is set to launch a National Software Industry Registry within the next six months, aimed at promoting software development and recognizing achievements in Nigeria's software sector. This announcement was made by ISPON President, Mr. James Agada, during the inauguration of the 2026/2028 National Executive Council (NEC) in Lagos.

Agada expressed concern over the lack of recognition for milestones achieved by software developers in Nigeria. The registry will document software achievements and celebrate developers, enhancing the visibility of Nigeria's software industry on a global scale.

Present at the inauguration were Mr. Lawrence Dirisu, Director of the South West Zone at the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), and Prof. Muhammad Aliyu Sirajo, President of the Nigeria Computer Society. Chris Uwaje, co-founder and former President of ISPON, emphasized the need for trusted software structures and standards to scale Nigeria's software capabilities.
