ISPON President Advocates for Enhanced Safety Collaboration

Dr. Stephen Udezi, the President of the Institute of Safety Professionals of Nigeria (ISPON), urged for stronger collaboration between the government and the private sector to enhance safety culture in Nigeria.

Speaking at a conference in Warri, Delta State, ahead of ISPON's 12th anniversary, he highlighted that a poor safety culture and unqualified practitioners are significant causes of accidents across various industries. Udezi called on state governments to establish safety commissions similar to that of Lagos State and urged the introduction of safety education at the kindergarten and secondary school levels to foster early safety consciousness among children.

He advocated for broader collaboration with artisan associations, higher institutions, and media organizations to promote safety campaigns nationwide. Mr.

Olusola Ogunley, the Lagos State Chairman of ISPON, noted that collaboration with the Lagos State Safety Commission would significantly strengthen safety enforcement and professional standards across key sectors in the state.
