Israel Strikes Iran's Largest Petrochemical Facility

On Monday, Israel's Defense Minister Israel Katz announced that Israel conducted a military strike on Iran's largest petrochemical facility located in Asaluyeh. This facility is crucial as it accounts for 50 percent of Iran's petrochemical products.

Katz stated that the strike was a response to ongoing military actions and aimed to deliver a severe economic blow to Iran's petrochemical companies. The attack reportedly resulted in the destruction of two facilities that together accounted for approximately 85 percent of Iran's petrochemical exports.

Local Iranian officials reported five fatalities due to the strike. Katz emphasized the need for continued military action against Iran's national infrastructure, following a similar strike in Mahshahr last month.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has ordered the military to persist in targeting Iran's industrial sectors, which includes a significant reduction in Iran's steel production capacity. The Israeli military has vowed to completely destroy Gulf energy infrastructure in response to Iranian threats.
