Netanyahu Rejects Trump's Gaza Roadmap Amid Tensions

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has rejected U.S. President Donald Trump’s proposed 15-point Gaza roadmap, amid continued U.S. pressure and a recent reduction in Israeli military operations in Gaza.

Netanyahu, who is in a re-election campaign ahead of the October 27 vote, faces pressure from far-right allies for tougher actions against Hamas while also contending with Trump's push for progress towards ending the conflict. Following a meeting with Trump’s Gaza envoy, Nikolay Mladenov, Israeli forces reportedly reduced their attacks in Gaza, acting only against immediate threats and halting targeted assassinations.

Mladenov indicated that Israel would need to withdraw “sector by sector” after Hamas’s weapons were rendered unusable. Hamas has refrained from labeling its commitment as “disarmament,” instead stating that its weapons would be stored under a U.S.-backed Palestinian administration.

The differing positions highlight ongoing disagreements over the implementation of the plan, with further discussions anticipated between U.S. and Israeli officials.
