Yair Netanyahu Evacuated from U.S. Amid Iran Threat

Yair Netanyahu, the eldest son of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, was urgently evacuated from the United States back to Israel due to a credible threat against his life. The Shin Bet, Israel's domestic intelligence agency, confirmed on August 29 that there was a significant threat to harm Yair Netanyahu, prompting the decision to evacuate him along with his security team.

This action followed a report by US broadcaster Newsmax, which indicated that Yair had been the target of an alleged Iranian assassination plot while living in Florida last December. Prime Minister Netanyahu stated that Iran had attempted to kill one of his sons.

Yair Netanyahu left the U.S. immediately without collecting personal belongings and returned directly to Israel. His stay in Florida had been controversial, especially after the Hamas-led attacks on October 7, 2023, as many Israelis criticized his absence while military reservists were mobilized.

Yair remained active on social media, commenting on domestic issues and criticizing government opponents.
