Netanyahu and Trump to Discuss Iran War at White House

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will meet US President Donald Trump at the White House on Tuesday, marking their first meeting since the onset of the Iran war, which began with US-Israeli strikes on Iran in late February. Despite previous tensions, both leaders have attempted to ease relations.

This meeting will be their eighth since Trump returned to office last year and their first in-person discussion since the war began. Netanyahu emphasized the importance of the meeting, stating they would discuss Iran and the need to safeguard Israel's security.

The leaders are also expected to address the implementation of a US-sponsored framework deal between Israel and Lebanon and the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza. Relations between Trump and Netanyahu had deteriorated in April during ceasefire negotiations, but Netanyahu characterized their disagreements as tactical.

International relations expert Yonatan Freeman noted that the primary aim of the visit is to demonstrate a united front between the US and Israel.
