Lamido Explains ADC Move Amid Sokoto Security Crisis

Senator Lamido, representing Sokoto East, stated that his decision to join the African Democratic Congress (ADC) was not a personal choice but a collective decision made after extensive consultations with residents of Sokoto East, who have been subjected to relentless attacks by armed bandits. Despite ongoing legal disputes within the ADC, Lamido emphasized that his alignment with the party reflects the collective will of his constituents, who are increasingly frustrated with the perceived failure of both state and federal authorities to address the worsening security crisis.

He strongly disagreed with recent claims made by Sokoto State Governor Ahmadu Aliyu regarding the effectiveness of state efforts to curb banditry, asserting that the security situation in Sokoto East remains extremely fragile, with several communities facing repeated attacks that result in killings, kidnappings, and the displacement of hundreds of residents.
